Yoga Retreat Swiss Alps – Kandersteg

My first Mountain Therapy, a yoga retreat in the Swiss Alps, took place in a stunning valley near Kandersteg. Our wellness day included a gentle walk, outdoor yoga, and meditation by the river. Here’s a summary of our yoga event in this little paradise...

A Mountain Therapy is a magical experience exploring both the Mountain and yourself through a holistic approach: hiking, meditation in nature, and outdoor yoga.

The beginning of our hike

We are a small group of 9 people, starting our Saturday by meeting at the Kandersteg train station for our yoga retreat in the Swiss Alps. The participants don't know where we're going exactly. The location is a surprise. From the train station, I arranged for a small alpine bus to take us to the starting point of our hike in a breathtaking valley – one of my favorite secret spots.

The participants are amazed: the views of the surrounding mountains and the turquoise river captivate them. We begin walking at a leisurely pace, and everyone starts getting to know each other.

By late morning, we’ve completed most of the hike. We stop by the river for a picnic in a stunning setting.

The water is icy cold, flowing down from the glaciers. In fact, we can still see snow on the mountains, even at the end of August. The landscape is enchanting, and the sun gently warms us.

Yoga Retreat Swiss Alps: The Power of the Waterfall

In the early afternoon, we leave our riverside spot and move closer to the mountains and the waterfall.

Breath in, Breath out…

The place is perfect for an outdoor yoga session. The waterfall is a powerful element for recharging. Its sound helps us completely disconnect during the yoga practice.

Yoga Retreat Switzerland: The Meditative Power of the River

After our yoga session, we continue our walk through a lush, fairy-tale forest. We arrive at the edge of a turquoise river. The place feels magical and invites meditation.

I guide the ladies through my own personal version of Mountain Meditation. By the end of the session, the mountain yogis are so relaxed that they remain eyes closed in meditation for several minutes on their own. It's magical.

Then, we gently head back. No one is in a hurry. Everyone is still floating on a little cloud. We descend through a lovely gorge to the village of Kandersteg ... and this is the end of our little yoga retreat in the Swiss Alps.

It warms my heart to see how happy everyone is with this Mountain Therapy. It makes me want to organize more short yoga retreats in Switzerland, like this one-day event, or maybe even yoga weekends in Switzerland over two days.

Thank you so much for reading our little adventure in the Swiss mountains,

Much love,

Nastassja
